Two Loves

Now that my son is 18 months old - MD and I have learned that he loves two things.

#1 Shoes - This morning he was SO excited to put his shoes on that he could hardly keep himself still. He loves to carry shoes around and he also likes to give them to me. Especially when I am sleeping - on my head.

#2 Berries. All Berries. We have raspberries in our yard and he is pulled there as soon as we walk out of the house giggling and saying beewee all the way. This morning we went to Steamworks and one of the owners asked us if we wanted some blackberries. As soon as D saw them, he burst into his beewee!!! routine. Everytime MD would cut some up for him - he would giggle and say beewee!!! as well.

D is a happy kid anyway but those two things always make his day.

Both Kids On the Bike

B's New Wheels

Well. Not exactly.

Ya ya's brother came up on his new Harley and B got to sit on it.

I kept expecting her to tip it over. But we got through it with no
issues.

Birthday Countdown

B's birthday is coming up.
So far I have purchased one item for her and inquired about another.
We are going to buy her a bike probably before her birthday so she can get some use out of it before summer/fall are over.

Happy July!

Happy Independence Day

MD has a tradition that he listens to this particular piece of music every 4th of July to celebrate the holiday. I don't really have a particular need to do something special to celebrate today. I like fireworks but try not to get too excited about them due to an unfortunate episode.
We were sitting up on top of a apartment building a few years ago - waiting to watch the Mpls fireworks over the Mississippi. We were having a wonderful time - sitting and chatting until dusk. Then the fireworks lasted all of 15 minutes. I was SO disappointed.

Oh well. I hope your 4th is full of good times!

Lightning Bugs

B and I ran around outside last night and caught lightning bugs.
It brought me back to my own childhood.

Then MD asked if I had told her about smearing the bugs light and seeing what happens.
I told him we didn't advocate that kind of behavior. I wouldn't even let her catch them and keep them in a bottle - why would I let her kill them. Ugh.

Sorry - no pictures - maybe tonight. I have promised we would go out every night to catch bugs.
