Running off some energy

We shopped lots Wednesday night.
The kids were a bit much, but cute.
As MD was paying, I took them outside for a bit of running and picture taking.

A Poem for Today

One item I would like to add to my new years resolution, hey do this cause it will be good, bucket type list is I would like to learn more poetry. So without any further ado - here is a poem I found today to share with you.

Bed in Summer

A Poem for Mom

One of the many things I used to do in my younger years was create birthday cards for my family and include a poem that fit for either the occasion or the person.
I was looking through this book 'Favorite Poems by English and American Authors' edited by ELMO, published hardcover Jan 1, 1888. My copy is hardcover is in rough shape but still together. (So fun to learn things about second hand purchases).


This past Monday was my Mom's birthday and I decided I would find a nice poem to write in the card and came across the poem below. But after I saw how long it was - I knew it wasn't going to fit in the card. So I thought I would type it here. 


SONG OF SPRING


Laud the first spring daisies;
Chant aloud their praises;
Send the children up
To the high hill's top;
Tax not the strength of their young hands
To increase your lands.
Gather the primroses,
Make handfuls into posies;
Take them to the little girls who are at work in mills;
Pluck the violets blue,-
Ah, Pluck not a few!
Knowest thou what good thoughts from Heaven the violet instills?


Give the children holidays
(And let these be jolly days),
Grant freedom to the children in this joyous spring;
Better men, hereafter,
Shall we have, for laughter
Freely shouted to the woods, till all the echoes ring.
Send the children up
To the high hill's top, 
Or deep into the wood's recesses, 
To woo spring's caresses.


See, the birds together,
In this splendid weather, 
Worship God (for he is God of birds as well as men);
And each feathered neighbor
Enters on his labor,-
Sparrow, robin, redpole, finch, the linnet, and the wren.
As the year advances,
Trees their naked branches
Clothe, and seek your pleasure in their green apparel.
Insect and wild beast
Keep no Lent, but feast;
Spring breathes upon the earth, and their joy's increased,
And the rejoicing birds break forth in one loud carol.

My little man

I love that he likes to be outside in the dirt. Just like his mom!

Ummm. Papergoods.

Sometimes when I am sitting at my computer - bored with Facebook and news, I wonder where all those sites are that I know are out there and I know I would love to visit.
Well - Pinterest has 'helped' me find some of those sites and I found another one tonight.

It is Sunday night and I am not ready to start Monday.

Background didn't work

I see on my blog that I chose a snowy ground for the background. It sure hasn't helped get the snow to fall here in the North Country.  I think we have had about 4 snowfalls this winter and none of them have totaled more than 3 inches each.
So as soon as I can - the background will be updated.


I have also updated my page with some new blogs that I follow. 
An acquaintance from my hometown, Cindy Caraway, creates very cool jewelry. Check out her blog and she also has items on Etsy.

Time Kills

So in the last two weeks, I have learned about two new time kills.
A time kill means you open the website page and BOOM! it's two hours later and what have you done?


Pinterest is the first. It is a collection of items that people have 'pinned' to their boards. Wow. Fun place to browse.  You can follow people like on facebook or search the entire site for items logged into specific categories. The categories include gardening, DIY and crafts, Apparel for Women - you get the picture.


One of the reasons I really like Pinterest is because I am interested in ideas for outfits. So someone was pinning these outfits from earrings to shoes and I loved it. So I followed the link. Bad. Idea. Which leads me to #2.


Polyvore. I haven't really dug into it but it seems to be website where you can create 'sets' of things. Decor, Art, and Clothing seem to be the main themes. Wow. Creating a set out of clothing pieces is really hard! 


So there you go. A few new or not places to visit.
